ABOUT ME

Video games are very different from most other forms of entertainment. You watch and listen to movies, listen to music, read books; but video games use sight, hearing, touching, feeling and thinking all in unison. Most people don't realize that their minds are being worked as much as video games cause them to do. Video games are used for learning, uniting, and good ole' fashioned fun and the beauty of it is that it doesn't even feel like work to most people. They truly are a powerful medium. My name is Mitchell Martin and for as long as I can remember I've had a passion for video games.

I currently work as a Quality Assurance Tester for Activision Blizzard where I have been on for a full project cycle on the game Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare starting in Alpha and continuing on for post-launch updates and downloadable content.  Additionally, I am a full-time student at Full Sail University pursuing my Bachelor’s Degree in Game Design.  I currently reside in Minneapolis, Minnesota but plan to relocate to California in the near future.

Throughout my time at Full Sail thus far, I have worked on many different projects, learning various aspects of Game Design. In addition to solo projects, I have held roles on group projects as an Editor, Project Manager, and Mechanics Designer.  At the start of my program we worked on creating tabletop games to learn the design process. Later on, we started developing video games using Javascript and C#, as well as functionality within the Unity engine.  I have also learned the fundamental aspects of Systems Design, UI Design, and Level Design.

Over the course of my working career, I’ve spent time in multiple industries, holding an equal amount of roles.  Taking online classes has increased my ability to self-motivate and apply discipline to my creative efforts.  These classes have also taught me to work remotely with teams and communicate with more efficiency and detail than is required in a face-to-face classroom environment.

I am a hard worker who does not give up and constantly tries to find new, innovative ways to accomplish things. A heightened perceptivity allows me to navigate solutions quickly.  I love solving difficult problems and, rather than turning away from issues, I tackle them head-on.
